Phone: 905-469-6522
Fax: 905-469-6560
Toll Free: 1-800-297-9482Q. I liked having my unregistered easement requests processed by Hydro One staff and dislike having to take the time to conduct my own on-line search. Why was the decision made to move to the on-line self-search methodology?
In an effort to better serve customers requesting unregistered easement information Hydro One Networks Inc. undertook a re-engineering of its electronic data systems. A large part of past customer feedback had primarily dealt with the timeliness of responses, so an up-to-date web solution was developed to meet the "quick response" requirements of users. An interested party can now receive an e-mail response to their inquiry in a few minutes.
Q. If I still want Hydro One Networks staff to conduct the search on my behalf, is this still possible?
Yes, it is still possible. We realize that in spite of the speed of replies, computer searches and e-mail responses are not for everyone. The traditional postal request and reply within 21 days is still available. (see the FEES)
Q. If I call the 1-800 number for help how soon will I be called back?
All calls will be responded to as quickly as possible. The maximum time period for a call to be returned is 48 hrs.
Q. What if I am unable to use a credit card to conduct a search?
If you are unable to use the Unregistered Easement Inquires - Online or wish to mail in a request to search and receive a reply by Canada Post, the current fee is $25 CAN plus HST for a total of $28.25 CAN per single lot search. If multiple lots are to be searched, requests can be mailed in together with a single cheque to cover the total amount. A single letter reply confirming the existence of Hydro One Networks Inc.'s rights, if any, will be sent within 21 days. Hydro One Networks Inc.'s address. (see the CONTACT)
Q. What is the "P number" quoted in the search results?
P number stands for Property Transaction Number, a unique Hydro One Networks Inc. number assigned to a single transaction or agreement relating to a single property. The P number references any official documents relating to the transaction or agreement. One property can have multiple P numbers.
Q. I used to be able to ask for a search of one Concession and two Lots as a single request. Now it is considered two searches and is more costly. Why?
To make the new system more user friendly and increase the system's reliability we had to restrict the search capability to one lot at a time.
Q. Can we get the "cards" from the web site?
Yes, you can still get "cards". If a card is available for the record(s) you are interested in, click on the "Yes, click to view image" notation to the right of the "Final Search Results" page and print the card image from your internet browser.
Q. Which descriptors will yield the best search results?
For searches in Southern, Central, or Eastern Ontario the best results will always be obtained from a search using "lot" and "concession" criteria. However, searches in Northern Ontario are best searched using "location, mining claim" or "parcel" criteria.
Q. I used to get 2 letters in reply to some of my requests, will this continue to happen?
No, this will no longer occur. The two separate data systems used by Hydro One Networks Inc. have been coupled in this one web site so only one response letter will be generated.
Q. Where do I find the former municipality name?
The best source for the former municipality name is the official survey plan.
