Welcome to the Unregistered Easement Inquiries - Online Self Search Page
Introduction
This site was developed by Hydro One Networks Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hydro One Inc., to provide owners of land or individuals intending to acquire an interest in land with the ability to conduct a self-search of the unregistered easements held by Hydro One Networks Inc. across the province of Ontario.
Steps to Start a Search
The search process consists of four parts:
- Starting the search by entering key municipal data
- Connecting with an off-site accounting service provider to process applicable fees via credit card
- Completing the details of the search on the Hydro One Networks site
- Electronic confirmation of the search results
Search Fee
- The fee for using the Unregistered Easement Inquiries - Online is $25 CAN plus HST for a total of $28.25 CAN per single lot search (i.e. only one property description).
Before you start the search
Prior to beginning your search you will need to have:
- Former names of the current municipality.
Since there is a history of municipalities across the province amalgamating or changing names, prior or original names are important. For example: A search for unregistered easements in the current Town of Clarington might have to be conducted under any or all of: Town of Newcastle, Town of Bowmanville, Township of Darlington, etc.
- An accurate legal description of the property.
The majority of unregistered easements were granted prior to the land being developed (e.g. land subdivision), and as such refer to original Lot and Concession as numbers rather than being described as a part on a reference plan.
- An e-mail address for electronic confirmation.
- A valid credit card.
Visa, Mastercard or American Express accepted. Have your credit card number and expiry date with you.
